The Shenley Cricket Ground was designed by the renowned W G Grace. The Porter Family owned the Shenley estate in the latter part of the 19th century and it was they who asked W G Grace to design the ground to the dimensions of The Oval. Thankfully, W G Grace accepted this request and the grounds are now open for all to enjoy today.

On the 22nd June 1997, Denis Compton, the legendary Middlesex and England cricketer unveiled The Denis Compton Ground. Since its unveiling Shenley Cricket Ground has rapidly become one of the most attractive cricket venues in the country and a major cricketing centre of excellence. A multitude of national and county teams have played on The Denis Compton Ground, these have included the national teams of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the West Indies, New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
